Sweet Treats

I made these cute, little candies today. They were super sweet and very easy to make!

Ingredients:
3 ounces of cream cheese, softened
1/4 teaspoon peppermint or almond extract (I used almond)
3 cups confectioners sugar
food coloring

Preparation:

1.) Combine cream cheese and extract in a bowl.
2.) Beat in 1 1/2 cups of confectioners sugar.
3.) Knead in remaining sugar until smooth.
4.) Separate the mixture (if you're using more than one color)
and mix in food coloring.
5.) Now shape into 1/2 inch balls (I made mine a little too big.. oh well).
6.) Flatten the pieces with a fork and let stand for about an
hour to harden.

*Store in a container in the refrigerator.

Weekend on the River

We just had an awesome weekend getaway on the Tennessee River. For a professional in the
beauty industry, there's something to be said about me being able to let go and just embrace
unkempt hair and no makeup. We even opted to take river "showers" instead of
using the shower at the cabin. Yes, it's kind of pointless to wash your hair in fish water,
but it was surprisingly refreshing. So you can either excuse or embrace our
trashy, fish poop water appearances.

During our little getaway, we relaxed on the pontoon and raced around on the wave
runner. We also tried our hand at tubing (which I found to be extremely fun, but slightly
painful) AND caught a glimpse of a majestic bald eagle surveying the land, atop a
pine tree, in his natural habitat.
In awe, Cody did what any proud, red-blooded American would do at the sight of
this magnificent creature and saluted it by holding up an American flag towel as we
passed by this imperial entity. Our lives are complete.

All in all, this was just the escape I needed.
What did you do this weekend??

Saffley's 2nd Birthday

Saturday, Cody and I spent the night in Nashville for our niece, Saffley's, second
birthday party on Sunday. It was a really nice day out for a little party. I was pretty surprised
that it didn't rain at all. Sunday morning, we got up early and made red velvet cupcakes.
Saffley helped... and by that, I mean she ate her weight in batter and frosting! She
also loaded up on cute presents and got to play with some of her best friends
(both kids and adults) all afternoon! Overall, it was a great weekend.
Isn't she a peach?! :)

I got my first Julep Maven box today! I was so excited to open this little black box.
The one I got came with two nail polish colors, pedi lotion, and a sample
of warming foot scrub.
To become a Julep Maven, all you have to do is take
a short quiz about your style. Julep then selects the best nail colors/products to match!
Along with the monthly subscription to the beauty box, you also get discounts and
special offers....Like 50% off products and more! Can't beat that.

The cute polishes are packaged in lipgloss-like containers... perfect for popping them
in your purse in case you need a touch up!

The pedi lotion smells amaaaazzingggg! It exfoliates and moisturizes, leaving your
feet feeling incredibly soft. I use it on my hands too!

Beauty Review: The Vivids

So I saw a commercial for these Maybelline "The Vivids" lipsticks on tv the other day
and the bright colors reminded me of my favorite lipsticks by Lime Crime! I just
had to try them out. When I got to the store, I saw that most of the colors were sold out..
They really are hot items right now, I suppose! Of the few that I had to choose from, I was
immediately drawn to the purple "Brazen Berry"... Mainly because I don't have any
lip color in purple. I am pretty impressed with this product!

When I first applied this lip color, I was pleasantly surprised by the intense pigment. It
didn't take much to get this lovely, opaque color. I decided to apply it without putting
chapstick on first to see if it was moisturizing at all, and it was! It glided on smoothly
and I didn't even miss my chapstick.

After several hours of wear, the glossiness wore off but most of the color stayed.
It looked like a pretty, berry stain! I loved it. I would definitely recommend this
as an inexpensive alternative to some of our favorite, more expensive brands.

It's only $5.54 at Target

Antiquing Adventure

Yesterday, Cody and I went on a little antiquing adventure. We just bought our first house
so we've been looking for awesome things to put in it. I love old and rustic looking furniture.
It just gives a cute, eclectic feel to a room or house. Another thing I like about antiquing
(even if we aren't looking for something to buy) is just seeing the old tools, cooking
utensils, and electronics that people used to use. It's crazy how advanced technology is
today, and it's kind of hard to even imagine living back then.

Do you ever go antiquing?
