Hello Sunday!

I have been fighting a cold for the past few days, but I finally had to succumb to it's powerful force last night. It's been no fun at all... sniffling, coughing, and sneezing... ughhh. However, yesterday, before it hit me full on, I got to enjoy a wonderfully warm Sunday with Cody. For much of the afternoon we went swimming and played with our furbabies. Harper hates water so she generally kept her distance or hid in the bushes. Brutus, on the other hand, was much too curious about the splashes of water we made to be afraid of it. Every time we'd come up out of the water or make any sort of splash, he would bark and jump around the edge of the pool. It was pretty cute to watch. I just wish I could get Harper in or at least near the water!

Sunday Style

This whole outfit came from Forever 21 and I'm pretty excited about it! These days, I hardly ever find Forever 21 clothing that I like. This is probably because I'm not 21 anymore... or a teenager, rather, as it's obviously the age range that they cater to the most. However, every now and then, I find a few precious gems to add to my wardrobe! Currently, these are those gems.

Sunday Style

Yesterday, Cody and I finally took a day off from disaster recovery work to rest and spend some quality time together... and by quality time, I mean, I had Cody take pictures of me for my blog. I'm kidding! We did other things too. After this little session, we went to get some ice cream, then drove back home to play with the dogs. We spread a blanket out on the lawn and enjoyed the beautiful, warm afternoon. He read a book and browsed Pinterest on his iPad for landscaping ideas for our yard, while I edited photos and occasionally yelled at Harper for barking too much at the neighborhood children. If that doesn't describe quality time, I don't know what does! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sunday Style

Yesterday, Cody and I went to visit my family again for my grandpa's birthday. It was surprisingly a really nice day outside! I had Cody snap a few pictures because I actually got to wear a cute dress without having to cover it up with coats and scarves and layers and  more coats....

Anyway, back to my grandpa and his birthday... He's 83 years young now, and when I say "young" I really mean it! Seriously, he's probably healthier and more active than me, which is kind of sad. You can see him playing soccer here with my little nephew. Aside from being physically healthy, his brain is still a wealth of knowledge too! He used to be an aeronautical engineer for NASA and hasn't forgotten anything from back then. Every time we visit, he ends up sharing stories with us about his rocket days. He informed me yesterday, that he's nearly finished writing a 40 chapter educational textbook about rocket stuff. Pretty awesome! The other day, I got curious and Googled his name (Frank Jordan). After a little bit of searching, I found an interview he had in an article of the NY Times back in 1993. Here is that article.... NY Times.

You may not think any of that is very interesting, but I think it's quite fascinating. It's safe to say, I'm pretty proud of that old man.

Windy Day Wear

Harper got to join me in this style post! She loves going on little adventures with me. It was a very windy day yesterday, but only a little bit chilly so I got to wear my lovely heart cardigan that I recently bought from ModCloth. I also wanted to display one of the little critter necklaces I have available in my Etsy shop! He's a sleepy little fox :)

Sunday Style

When it's cold in the morning, hot in the afternoon, and cold at night, how do I decide what to wear every day?? Layers. I try to wear pieces that look good with or without added articles.. that way I don't have to completely change outfits 2 or 3 times a day! Amy = 1, Dirty South = 0

Makeup Review: Lasting Finish by Kate Moss

Hi there! My name is Erica and I blog over at Being Erica. I'm so honoured to be guest
posting here on ART of the HEART today, because I'm a huge fan of Amy's style and
of course, her blog - so being asked to handle the reins while she moves house was a real
treat for me! In keeping with her beauty style, I thought I'd share this review of my new
favourite lippy. Apologies for the UK wording... I don't know if I translate to American just
yet! I hope you enjoy, and maybe I'll see you soon... I was hanging out in Superdrug with
Carmen on payday, when I stumbled across the 'bogoho' (buy one get one half off) deal
on the Rimmel concession. I'm about four hundred years too late to the party with
the apolocolips range, but I love the two I already have (Nova and Celestial) so I grabbed
at the last 'apololiptic' in the display, knowing it would be perfect with the dress I was
wearing to a wedding the next day. Deciding what to get half price was the hard
part; another apocolips shade, or something else?..

Something else; enter Lasting Finish by Kate Moss. I already own shade 20 which I freaken
love, but is reaaaaheeeaally bright and not very trans-seasonal, so I grabbed another. I uhm'ed
and aah'ed over the various shades, and settled on number five. It's pink, but not too bright that
it won't suit a more muted make up palette come autumn.

I've worn this a number of times since picking it up a few weeks ago, but you'd never
know it; the bullet has kept it's shape despite the number of uses it's endured, and
still glides on with ease. The colour is rich and creamy, and definitely has staying
power, and the best bit? It freaken smells like cherries!

Sunday Style

It's really hard for me to not be awkward in pictures most of the time. Ohh well... So here
is one of my more affordable new outfits. Finding awesome deals is one of my
favorite things about shopping! I'm that girl who always hits the sale racks
first. Who says you have to break the bank to get cute clothes? Not me.
