Memorial Day Weekend

baby portrait photography

We had a nice and leisurely Memorial Day weekend. Saturday, we visited my side of the family and the next day was spent with Cody's side. Our little niece and nephew were in town for the weekend so we played with them at the grandparents' pool Sunday afternoon. The water was a bit too cold for Baby Brooks, though. I dipped his tiny feet in the water and his face immediately scrunched up. He was much happier watching his cousins swim and run around! So I guess we'll just have to save the swimming for another day.

The actual holiday was less eventful because it rained most of Monday. However, we did hang out with some friends that night and watched the Braves game while grilling food. Braves lost... whomp whomp. Aside from that, it was a pretty good weekend.

summer outfit collage

Spring has already sprung and summer is well on it's way. Where did the time go?? Seriously. This year is just rushing by! I'm so glad that my favorite season is just around the corner, though. I say it all of the time, but I'd much rather sweat than shiver. I haaaate being cold, so summer time is my happy time. One way I like to welcome its glorious return is to share some pretty, little things I found while shopping on the interwebs. I have the clutch and love love love it! And that perfect striped dress is on sale right now!

Mother's Day Style

Don't mind the wrinkles in my skirt. I didn't even notice it until I started editing these photos. Oops! We just had so much fun yesterday, my skirt was the least of my worries. Needless to say, my first Mother's Day was definitely a success!

We started the day by walking around a local art festival. It was incredibly hot outside so we only stayed long enough to quickly browse the art booths and chat with some friends before retreating to the car. Brooks got his first taste of the Mississippi heat and wasn't a fan of it. It's kind of crazy that he has only been alive for three months, and has already experienced a snowstorm and 90+ degree weather!

After the festival, we got lunch, went to the park, and shopped a little bit. We took a break for a couple hours in the late afternoon so Little B could take a nap. Shortly after he woke up, we topped off the day with a delicious Mexican dinner, and got home in time to get B fed, bathed, and ready for bed. I had the best day thanks to my sweet little family.

Brooks Wilder: Three Months

Currently //

Length 25 inches

Sleeps 4-7 hours between night feedings.
Loves nap time and meeting new people.
Hates tummy time
Learning to hold and swat at his toys.

Baby Brooks is growing like crazy! All he really does now is eat and sleep... with a little play time sprinkled here and there. I love watching him stare and smile at his hanging toys while he sits in his swing. It's like he's completely mesmerized by all of the shapes and colors. I really want him to stay this age and size forever, but at the same time, I'm excited to watch him grow and continue to learn and interact with his surroundings.

Spring Style

Spring style wardrobe
With a sunny break in the constant rain showers of springtime in Mississippi, I finally got a chance to share my first outfit post since the early days of my pregnancy. Wow, it's been a long time! It's not that I didn't want to be preggo fashion blogger, I just didn't want to wear anything but t-shirts and sweats once I got pretty big.... and no one wants to see that.

I still have some baby weight to lose, but my clothes are starting to fit a lot better. Though, I still like to wear stretchy or loose fitting pieces. This green romper from ModCloth has the perfect amount of stretch and it's super soft and comfortable. Plus, with the crossover neckline, I can easily nurse in it. Score!

I'm also obsessed with this kimono. I would seriously live in it everyday if that was socially acceptable. It's light and flowy and amazing.

2 Amazing Aveda Products for Voluminous Hair

aveda products review - phomollient - volumizing tonic
Hairstyling - Aveda products
I looove Aveda and I'm excited to be sharing some of my favorite products! I used this product line for the first two years of my hairstyling career, and it's been one of my favorite brands ever since! All of the products are derived from plants and are certified organic. So no harsh chemicals or any of that yucky stuff. Everything smells so amazing, too, like the best parts of nature... but without the allergies. I'm now back in a salon that uses Aveda and I couldn't be happier! So here are a couple of my faves... volumizing tonic and phomollient.

Aveda styling products

Phomollient - This weightless styling foam creates body and shine on fine to medium hair. I have fine textured hair. Long, straight, and no natural volume. It's basically angel hair pasta growing out of my head. At least, that's how it seems to me.

I pump out the foam 3-4 times (about the size of a golf ball), rub it between my hands, and work it through my damp hair from roots to ends. This is the only mousse-like product I've found that doesn't weigh my hair down. I should also add that it smells like leaves and honey.

Volumizing tonic - Like the phomollient, this spray is weightless and adds loads of volume! Pair it with the styling foam for some serious bombshell hair. No joke. You can put the teasing comb away. It's also enhanced with some of the best essential oils. I could totally bathe in this stuff.

I spritz the tonic throughout my damp hair, concentrating mostly at the roots.

For the style in this review/mini tutorial, I blow-dried with a round brush and finished with a 1.5" curling iron.

Brooks Wilder: Two Months

fox print baby blanket
I promise I haven't abandoned my blog! It's just been an extremely busy and exhausting couple of weeks with work, taking care of Brooks, and being out of town some.  Little B is doing great though. He had his 2 month wellness and shots appointment today and took it like a champ! Only a couple tears were shed... by his mom. Just kidding. Sort of.
